Although it is not a great film, it does have enough good. The only reason it wasn’t a one star book was because it inspired the post, “ Does there need to be less of myself?” Nothing was funny. Ill watch most anything with Ellen Burstyn and she doesnt disappoint in this film, she is terrific. It was horrible. The description lies! It should have been titled “Memoirs of Child Abuse Across the Generations.” That should bode well for the book right?When looking for books to complete my A-Z author challenge, I grabbed Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood to complete my W requirement. ![]() This is a movie right? It’s been ages since I’ve seen the previews and I’ve never seen the movie, but it looked like a good movie. All looks bleak until the Ya-Yas step in and convince Vivi to send Sidda a scrapbook of their girlhood mementos, called “Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood.” As Sidda struggles to analyze her mother, she comes face to face with the tangled beauty of imperfect love, and the fact that forgiveness, more than understanding, is often what the heart longs for. Devastated, Sidda begs forgiveness, and postpones her upcoming wedding. ![]() When Siddalee Walker, oldest daughter of Vivi Abbott Walker, Ya-Ya extraordinaire, is interviewed in the New York Times about a hit play she’s directed, her mother gets described as a “tap-dancing child abuser.” Enraged, Vivi disowns Sidda.
